Podere Marella is a small, family-owned winery in the Colli del Trasimeno DOC area, on the border between Umbria and Tuscany in Central Italy. It is a pioneer in organic wine making as it was founded in 1974 by Fiammetta Inga, mother of the current owner, a farsighted woman that brought her to choose an organic approach although in Italy few at the time were interested- or even new about it. Today, from the estate’s vineyards, spreading over 18 acres, seven between red, white and rosé wines are produced and rated among the best in their categories at international wine contests.
